ARTISTIC RESEARCH: FOUR APPROACHES. III/IV – PERFORMANCE PRACTICES IN PUBLIC SPACE

As artists/researchers coming from different backgrounds, we want to investigate the current practices and various formats of site specific performances. The first part of the program is a workshop during which we want to enable moments of intensity and inquiry by using our everyday life and own body as a material. Therefore, we will explore the area of the building community "Holzmarkt“ and it’s surroundings and create different forms of narration (maps, stories, scripts) and action. During the second part, we will discuss about these experiences in the context of other examples and research projects. One of these examples will be the project < Other Places, Practices and Formats in Performance > which happened last year in Fortaleza, Brazil. Our main goal is to reflect on our understanding of how we can acquire, use, occupy, enliven and interpret a certain space in the city. Which artistic tools or media are necessary to translate a space into a body- and performative language? And what does it mean to develop a site specific practice in times of an increasing „artistic nomadism“ when the collection of places becomes a working condition? This program is part of the Series Artistic Research: Four Approaches.
