« ABA's Air SALON » air salon: elle dit !
Rosanna speaks to Joahanna Kotlaris & Camille Kaiser, artists from Switzerland currently in Berlin with the ABA e.v. research-residency.
Camille Kaiser is an artist and curator based in Geneva. She graduated from édhéa-Sierre in Fine Arts and HEAD-Geneva in Critical, Curatorial, Cybermedia studies. Her artistic research stems from an interest in the everyday practices that the individual negotiates within both urban spheres and work spheres. Recalling upon several mediums, the publications, installations and performances realized aim to recreate a cinematic environment without the use of film. Parallel to her artistic practice, she has been co-curator of the independent art space TOPIC in Geneva from 2015 to 2017 and opened the arts and research space Espace 3353 with the collective HOY in 2018, in Geneva. https://www.camillekaiser.com/
Johanna Kotlaris is an artist mainly working with performance, sound, video, sculpture and installation. Through the variety of these mediums she creates and investigates narratives around how boundaries are experienced, materialized and disintegrated. Her practice explores how the interplay between emotional, social and physical spaces can form senses of identity, autonomy and (inter-)dependence. http://www.johannakotlaris.com
ABA Air SALON is a radio format produced by Air Berlin Alexanderplatz, a Berlin based artist initiative dealing with the distribution and documentation of forms of collective and experimental knowledge production. The broadcasts come from different locations in Berlin where we organize salons. At these salons we meet with local actors, artists, scientists and other cultural producers to exchange around research based artistic projects and practices. You can find more information about our program at www.airberlinalexanderplatz.de
ABA (Air Berlin Alexanderplatz) e.V., is a research-oriented artists' initiative founded in Berlin in 2009 by the artists Susanne Kriemann & Aleksander Komarov. The programme focuses on ephemeral artistic research and collective and experimental knowledge production. ABA’s operations consist of the conception, curation and implementation of various presentational formats: The organization of salons in different locations across the city, the release of publications, the stewardship of a residency-program and the maintenance of a website as a central place for documentation and archiving of these forms of ephemeral knowledge production.
