NOKO 076 - John Callaghan: Odi Et Amo

John Callaghan from birmingham (UK) is an unusual songwriter, but also an energetic and imaginative performer. his thoughtful and spiky electronica with spoke-offset-pieces present a soundtrack of his own life. some of the material there might better fit the category of melancholy music about love and hate.

The prelude and postlude of the radio transmission is covered more and more by songs for gloomy hearts and finally disappears completely in the poem of Catullus 85:

“odi et amo. quare id faciam fortasse requiris. nescio, sed fieri sentio et excrucior.” = “i hate and i love. why do i do this, perhaps you ask? i know not, but i feel it happening and i am tortured”
