« Radyo Within Kollektiv » presents: na-mute-na
Radyo Within Kollektiv brings together Ceren Oykut, Seçil Yersel, Özge Açıkkol, and Melih Sarıgöl, four artists from Türkiye now based in Berlin. They produce conceptual radio programs revolving around the topic of solidarity with civil society and individual art productions in Türkiye. Their broadcasts weave together conversations, soundscapes, and live music created in collaboration with various musicians, artists and producers.
In our third program on Colaboradio you are going to listen to two live performances from the new event series called “na-mute-na”, formerly “Istanbul Electroacoustic Nights" organised by Zeynep Ayşe Hatipoğlu and Melih Sarıgöl.
“na-mute-na” is an experimental music concert series that emphasizes the ongoing creative exchange between Istanbul and Berlin’s music communities. It is an experiment to explore how electroacoustic practices are shaped both by the acoustic and spatial qualities of their performance environments and by the diverse musical traditions of the musicians, which embody distinct geographic and sociopolitical backgrounds. Until now the series took place in backsteinboot and in Kapelle 99. The third episode will take place in Galiläakirche on 11th of April 2026.
The first performance you are going to listen to is by Laura Mellon who explores the auditory dimensions of spoken language to deconstruct and reconstruct (de-)colonial perspectives, challenging established epistemologies. The performance is recorded in Kapelle 99 on 8th of November 2025
The second performance, recorded on 13th of july 2025 in backsteinboot is by the duo Velvele, which consists of Merve Salgar on tanbur, voice and electronics and Anıl Eraslan on cello and electronics. Merve and Anıl are two musicians of Turkish origin who share their lives between Strasbourg, Berlin and Istanbul. Their musical practices are situated at the edge between traditional and improvised music. Merve works as well on new forms of compositions for ancient instruments as with a more classical repertoire. As for Anıl, his career as a cellist leads him from Anatolian music to free music which flirts with the contemporary. Anıl is also a filmmaker who finished last year his documentary film called “ Sound Dreams of Istanbul", which is about the improvisation scene in Istanbul.
