Die Kolumne von Mumia Abu Jamal 1982 wurde der linke Radioreporter und Ex-Black-Panther als angeblicher »Polizistenmörder« zum Tode verurteilt. Mumia wurde weltweit zu einem Symbol für den Kampf der Unterdrückten und für die Ächtung der Todesstrafe. Er ist Kolumnist der Tageszeitung junge Welt RadioAktiv vertont die Kolumne.

  • Freedom of Movement: For Free People This message was written by Mumia Abu-Jamal for the Acción Migrante Campaign, which consists of a series of activities culminating in a march during President Barack Obama’s visit to Mexico City on May 3.

Each participant has been asked to tape a message in support of one of the demands in the Declaration of Migrants’ Rights adopted last December 18.

Mumia chose demand # 4: Free transit for migrants, their families, and communities, by eliminating visa requirements or implementing a transit visa system for Latin American migrants on Mexican territory.

The internationally recognized journalist, writer and political prisoner Mumia Abu-Jamal is an honorary member of the international jury of two major global citizens´ tribunals: the International Tribunal of Conscience of Peoples in Movement (ITCPM) and the Permanent Peoples’ Tribunal (PPT).
