This month, a conversation with Roxanne Nesbitt. Trained as an architect and orchestral contrabassist, Roxanne is an interdisciplinary artist, exploring the space between sound and design. Her research includes sound art, contemporary classical composition, experimental instrument design, electroacoustic music, improvisation, and performance. Roxanne collaborates with musicians, dancers and choreographers as a performer and composer. She has premiered new compositions at the Western Front, and PUSH festival in Vancouver, Array Space in Toronto, and the Banff Centre for the Arts, to name a few. Roxanne also fronts her own band, graftician as vocalist /noise maker. She is a member of the improvised duo, why choir alongside Juno-award winning drummer Ben Brown. She is currently researching acoustic instrument design in Berlin and looks forward to a residency at the prestigious European Keramic Work Centre in the Netherlands in the spring of 2020.

elle dit - Statistically women* are still underrepresented in most forms of media. In this instance we take raising your voice literally and produce a one hour show featuring women*'s voices. elle dit invites all women* in Berlin to make contributions - participating in a live show, contributing music, sound pieces, stories, interviews, readings, or any other kind of audio contribution. Although we focus on creative and cultural work and women* in the arts, contributions from all fields are welcome. Beginning in English and German, the show also aims to include contributions in other languages. elle dit is an inclusive platform which takes an intersectional and feminist approach to making radio and aims to include all women* (female identifying, trans, queer,…).
