Mom’s Mic Radio ist eine Gruppe von Frauen und Mütter im Ruhrgebiet. Die erste Radio show entstand schon unter lockdown Bedingungen, allein mit smartphone Aufnahmen und schierer Selbstmotivation; denn in den üblichen Medien fanden die Frauen ihre Erfahrungen als Migrantinnen, Geflüchtete, Aktivistinnen und Mütter nicht wieder. Also, musste man das Medien-machen selbst in die Hand nehmen… und genau das taten sie… ! radio continental drift wollte es genau wissen; und so kam es zu dieser Sendung; auch diese produziert in lockdown Isolation… Mom’s Mic ist inzwischen vernetzt über das Netzwerk.Medien.Vielfalt der Freien Radios. Mom’s Mic Radio: We are a group of migrant and refugee mothers (parents) based in NRW, who have organized ourselves around the notion of storytelling as empowerment. We have each long searched to see whether and where our experience is being represented in the media. Sadly, we ended up not satisfied with the stereotypical images of black and brown women in need of saving. As BPoC women* and as mothers, we need to be visible, we need to be represented. It is about time our surroundings viewed us as we actually are. This aspiration gave rise to the idea of Mom’s Mic radio.
