« Matters of Transmission » S AM FM: INFRASTRUCTURAL EDDIES: An intervention by Radio Otherwise
Radio Otherwise will set up a temporary outdoor radio studio on the Insola floating platform at Rummelsburg Bay in Berlin, with the intention of tuning in to the plurality of waves in the area – electromagnetic and watery. Attentive to reception in consonance with transmission, the durational work will adapt over time as various antennas, microphones, receivers and detectors are tested, built up and integrated into the platform’s infrastructure live on air. Attuning to electromagnetic systems, some inherent to the environment at different scales, others incited by their many radio gadgets, they will receiveandtransmit to Soundcamp at the S AM Swiss Architecture Museum in Basel, who will also be able to remotely feed into their haphazard and eddying radio infrastructure/s. The work will be streamed online and, for the final hour, transmitted on FM in Berlin and Potsdam.
About Radio Otherwise: Together with a wide network of radio enthusiasts, Kate Donovan, Monaí de Paula Antunes, Niko de Paula Lefort, and M.K. explore the plurality of experiences involved in radio-making in connection to ecological thinking.
