Today's show:
Purity is a myth. BR/EN, 60 Min
Music/sound art radio show that takes its name from the work of the late Brazilian visual artist Hélio Oiticica. Like Oiticica, we are committed to a non-Eurocentric and anti-hegemonic concept of experimentalism: not as a music (or art) genre, but as an attitude toward culture and creation. We welcome each and every hybrid form of music (and sound art and sound poetry, etc) – from the hermetic to the vernacular, from conceptual music to funk carioca – focusing primarily on the work of Brazilian contemporary artists, but open to the ideas and sounds of all places and traditions (especially those outside the European and North American realm). Musician and writer Miguel Javaral presents and produces two versions of show, in both Portuguese and English. credits: Miguel Jaraval & various artists
